

It looks good on paper, spicy fried chicken with pickles, mustard, and honey. But what about the product? As a huge fan of hot chicken, I was naturally compelled to order The Princess, a title that might pay homage to Prince’s, the world’s original hot chicken.

The competition is intense, and Biscuit Love has the look, the reputation, and the menu.

They’ve played a role in the city’s cosmopolitan renaissance, the new Nashville where acclaimed chefs open modern spaces highlighting local foods with innovative dishes. I’ve long anticipated a visit to the iconic local eatery Biscuit Love, a popular Nashville restaurant known for its Southern cuisine.

If you need a place to park, there is a parking garage across the street for an apartment complex that had the same deal: free parking for the first 1.5 hours or whatever. There is a parking lot that’s free until something like 1.5 hours, but it’s not too terribly big. Parking is a mess but that’s not unusual for a downtown area with lots of shops and restaurants. Would’ve been nice to have an overhead fan just for some air movement in the humidity. Even with the shaded tables outside, it was still quite hot. We barely had to wait in line which was nice since it was over 90° outside, and we sat outside since we had our dog. The fried chicken on it, of course, was super good. With so little gravy, it made the biscuit crumbly and kind of hard to eat. My husband got the fried chicken and gravy biscuit which was also good, but definitely needed more gravy. The actual biscuits held their structure pretty well which I’m guessing is due to the fact that they were “French toasted” in the egg wash. I kind of wish I could’ve gotten a different options like strawberry just because there didn’t seem to be a ton of flavor in the compote. Guests can also expect to see breakfast and lunch favorites with a twist centered around biscuits. Crowd pleasers include the B-roll, a biscuit cinnamon roll made with Biscuit Love’s dough, topped with pecan sticky bun sauce and served with cream cheese icing, plus the East Nasty, a buttermilk biscuit topped with fried boneless chicken thigh, aged cheddar, and sausage gravy. Additional items include a children’s menu, sides, breakfast cocktails and beverages, plus take-home biscuit packs. The layout mimics a neighborhood diner and is meant to evoke the nostalgic feeling of brunch at Grannie’s, but with a modern flair. Muted shades of pinks take the stage and are contrasted by deep ink blues and earthy greens, with warm gold and floral accents. Guests can expect an interior design refresh at the new location, led by creative director Becca Wildsmith. Located at 3100 Village Plains Boulevard, Suite 130, the brand’s second location in Franklin offers its signature menu of brunch items made from scratch using ingredients sourced from local and regional purveyors. Biscuit Love, the Nashville brunch concept founded in 2012 by Karl and Sarah Worley, has opened a Berry Farms Town Center location in Franklin.
